TN Members Encourage Lawmakers to Invest Wisely in the Next Generation

Twenty-two Christian leaders in Tennessee who are members of Shepherding the Next Generation sent a letter in support of high-quality, voluntary early education to the state legislature and Governor Bredesen. High-quality early education prepares kids for school and for life during their early, formative years and is shown to strengthen families for generations to come.

Did you know?

  • A rigorous, long-term study showed that by age 27, at-risk girls who participated in an early educational program were twice as likely to graduate high school and five times more likely to be married and living with their husband as at-risk girls who did not participate.
  • As adults, boys not in the program were 63 percent more likely to have had children they did not raise. Children not in the program were also five times more likely to become chronic offenders (more than four arrests) by age 27.

High-quality early education makes a major impact on families. Thank you to the 22 Christian leaders who voiced their support to Tennessee state leaders!
